The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries expressed great interest in an investment plan for a biogas power production project proposed for operation in Cambodia.
H. E. Dith Tina was delighted to join the project briefing at the ministry on 28 May, where he was given a fascinating insight into the establishment of the sorghum grass farm and the sorghum grass biogas power plant project by Enserv Holding Company Limited.
The minister was 100% supportive of the investment and encouraged the investor to run a comprehensive upstream study on technical and legal aspects as well as to secure solid market placement of the produce.
Meanwhile, he advised the investor to look into the downstream of the operation, especially to promote grass-growing among targeted farmers with reliable profitability. This is an excellent opportunity for the investor to really make a difference, says the minister.
“A thorough examination of both the upstream and downstream aspects is a key foundation for a successful and sustainable investment“, emphasised H. E. Dith Tina.
Earlier this month, Enserv Holding made a strategic foray into Cambodia’s sorghum sector, with plans revealed during a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet at the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Melbourne. Founder Mr. Tanachat Pochana outlined the company’s vision for sustainable agro-industry, focusing on sorghum cultivation and processing.
The investment aims to develop sorghum-based products, including a low-calorie, high-protein rice alternative and biogas, contributing to carbon dioxide absorption. Prime Minister Hun Manet also welcomed the initiative, recognizing its potential in enhancing Cambodia’s agricultural, energy, and technology sectors. He encouraged collaboration with key ministries for seamless alignment with development policies.
Enserv Holding’s interest in Cambodia’s sorghum sector highlights the country’s appeal for sustainable investments. The initiative promises to bolster Cambodia’s economy, support local farmers, and contribute to global environmental efforts. This investment could mark a significant milestone in Cambodia’s agricultural evolution, solidifying ties with Australian businesses.
