Canadian International School of Phnom Penh Announces Expansion of Bassac Garden Campus

The Canadian International School of Phnom Penh (CIS) announced the expansion of its Bassac Garden Campus today.

The Canadian International School of Phnom Penh (CIS) announced the expansion of its Bassac Garden Campus today.

Located on a quiet, leafy side street, the campus is home to the school’s youngest learners, ages 18 months to 4 years. Construction will be complete in August 2024. The 1,000 square metre campus will soon include a new multi-storey building with 12 unique learning spaces, covered outdoor play spaces and new gardens.

‘WISE, our architectural firm, has maintained a careful focus on accessibility and environmental concepts,’ said Zak Garofolo, Campus Development Director.

‘Natural ventilation systems and plenty of greenery have been incorporated into the design. Everything has been planned with the well-being of young children in mind.’

Karen Holmes, Early Years Program Director, is also inspired by the intentionality of the campus expansion. ‘The light, airy communal spaces, both indoor and outdoor, will encourage children to communicate, explore and collaborate through play,’ said Holmes.

‘We have taken great care to ensure the campus expansion will offer an enhanced learning environment. I am excited to share this with the Phnom Penh community.’

Bassac Garden Campus is located near the Embassy of Japan, just off Norodom Blvd, which makes morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups quick and convenient. Children in the school’s Early Years Program can transition smoothly to Elementary School at Koh Pich Campus only 5 minutes away.

‘I look forward to welcoming new families to CIS!’ remarked Leah Dushenski, Head of School.

‘The Early Years are a crucial period in every child’s learning journey. We’re proud to offer a high-quality Canadian educational program delivered by qualified teachers. The Bassac Garden Campus expansion will offer CIS families with young children a unique advantage.’
