The first edition of Cambodia Tech Catalyst 2024, co-organised by OCIC and supported by Google Cloud, will take place from 12 to 14 March 2024 at Connexion, Koh Pich, Phnom Penh.
Cambodia Tech Catalyst will offer a networking dinner for startups and CTO Connect, in collaboration with Impact Hub, Khmer Enterprise and Google Cloud. The programme includes a series of sessions in Koh Pich's new community centre, Connexion. The ISO 9001 certified building, Connexion, opens this month and will host its first technology-related events on 13 and 14 March 2024. The Connect CTO sessions will enable startup leaders to discuss the development and expansion needs of their businesses.
"The initiative aims to introduce Cambodia to new digital trends and showcase the Kingdom's technology ecosystem by bringing together more than 100 decision-makers and offering 500 students the opportunity to engage with the Google Cloud team."
The event will be attended by startup founders, investors, banks, conglomerates, students and other stakeholders. This inaugural conference will create opportunities for everyone to learn, network and develop new skills in tomorrow's technologies without having to travel abroad.
Cambodia Tech Catalyst, co-organised by OCIC, has received support from key partners including Khmer Enterprise, ISI Group, Canadia Bank, Heineken, Impact Hub, Cambodia Association of Finance and Technology, Connexion, Mekong Strategic Capital, Cambodia Investment Review, Kiripost, Sabay Digital, Baksey Media, SHE Investments, 58Cam. com, Rising Giants, Emerging Markets Investment Advisors, CamTech University, Canadian International School of Phnom Penh, Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT), Mekhala Radiant, Kess Innovation, Mekong Focus and many more. This three-day event aims to strengthen the community around key aspects of digital and entrepreneurial networking for the benefit of the whole community.
In addition, a special session will be organised at CamTech for university students and another at the Canadian International School of Phnom Penh for high school students. The initiative aims to offer students a unique opportunity to interact with technology experts through these training sessions in universities and high schools.
At the same time, it will enable startup founders and entrepreneurs to exchange ideas and discover services and solutions to develop or optimise their businesses through the CTO Connect sessions.
"We are delighted to co-organise Cambodia Tech Catalyst with our community partners, highlighting the Cambodian private sector's efforts to support the country's technological and digital transformation," said Thierry Tea, Vice President of OCIC, adding:
"This initiative reflects OCIC's commitment to supporting innovation and sustainable growth while helping to improve the skills of Cambodia's youth through opportunities such as this (Cambodia Tech Catalyst) and future platforms such as the innovation centre to be built in the Connexion Community Hub."
Participating venture capital firms
In addition to the Google Cloud start-up team from Singapore, led by Esna Ong and Kathleen Chiu, the initiative welcomes some of the players supporting the technology ecosystem in Cambodia, including Melanie Mossard and Kosoma Kim from Impact Hub and Siriwat Chhem from AVI.
The presence of seasoned investors and venture capitalists such as Mao Savin from Emerging Markets Investment Advisers (EMIA) and Bora Kem from Mekong Strategic Capital, shows that the ecosystem is ready to be more collaborative and inclusive to support the growth of entrepreneurship and the startup community.
Startup founders and entrepreneurs such as Molika Meas, Chy Sila, Sam Kosal, Jay Kong or Sy Pauv Phou, who have successfully developed their technology companies, are also ready to provide key information to young founders.
