More than 150 delegates from the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham), CCI France Cambodge and the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AmCham) recently visited Techo International Airport (TIA), Cambodia's new international gateway to Phnom Penh.

The delegation, made up of representatives from France, Germany, Italy, the Scandinavian countries and the Benelux countries, was welcomed by the Director of the Canadia Group and the CAIC, Oknha Charles Vann, and by the Vice-President of the OCIC, Thierry Tea. Key delegates included representatives from Delta Airlines, Maersk, Danone, CMA CGM, Mekong Strategic Capital, Zuellig Pharma, CBRE, DFDL and many others.
“With new air links on the horizon for Cambodia, we are pleased to see the progress being made towards the opening of TIA this year. This visit has shown how local stakeholders such as OCIC and CAIC are bringing this project to life,” said Casey Barnett, President of AmCham Cambodia.
“Cambodia has made impressive progress in infrastructure and human capital, thanks to the vision and dedication of its people. We are pleased to see continued collaboration between Cambodian and French businesses to support the country's new gateway,” added Charles Julliard, Executive Director of the CCI France Cambodge.

Launched in 2019, the TIA is a local project managed by Cambodia Airport Investment Co (CAIC), a joint venture between Cambodia's OCIC Group and the State Secretariat for Civil Aviation (SSCA). The project marks an important milestone for Lok Neak Oknha Dr. Pung Kheav Se, founder and CEO of OCIC.
Recognised for its hard work and forward-looking approach, the group has been contributing to smarter development for over 30 years. As a key private sector leader, it remains at the forefront of Cambodia's economic landscape, focusing on real estate, banking and infrastructure development.
Strengthening international infrastructure partnerships
The development of the new Phnom Penh airport is a collaborative effort, with CAIC partnering with Foster + Partners (UK) for the design, Lagardère Travel Retail (France) for the duty-free shops, as well as Newrest, ATS Group LBL, Archetype, Hafele (Germany) and US companies OTIS and Caterpillar for key systems and equipment.

This project illustrates Cambodia's ability to develop world-class infrastructure through close collaboration with international partners.
In September 2024, the TIA successfully completed its first technical test flights, paving the way for full operation. Scheduled for launch in 2025, it coincides with OCIC's 25th anniversary, marking an important milestone in the group's contribution to Cambodia's growth.
