Tourism: Ticket vending machines for Angkor from November 2024

In order to reduce the waiting time for foreign visitors to the Angkor area, the authorities have announced the introduction of cash machines, which will be installed early next month.

According to Ly Se, Director General of the Angkor institution, the installation of these new machines will facilitate the ticket purchase process for those who do not buy tickets online or directly at the institution's ticket office. Until now, all foreigners had to buy tickets on entering the complex area, whether or not they intended to visit a particular temple.

The General Manager also indicated that there were plans to reorganise the ticketing system. The new system would make it easier for tourists to plan their visits and reduce the time spent buying tickets.

The new proposal should be operational early next year. From the end of this month, it is also planned to abolish the requirement for tourists to provide personal information, including photos, nationality, age and gender, for one-day tickets. However, long-term tickets (three days and seven days) will continue to require photos until the end of the year.

The authorities are also planning to adapt technological innovations to facilitate the procedures for purchasing and checking tickets. Long-term passes require security measures to be put in place. The number of checkpoints at the resort's four main entrances has also been reduced to facilitate the stay of tourists.
