Tourism: Shangri-La Phnom Penh debuts in the heart of Cambodia’s capital

Shangri-La Phnom Penh, a highly anticipated new waterfront landmark soft opens yesterday, marking the Shangri-La Group’s debut in Cambodia.

The hotel is set to officially welcome guests from 28 December 2024 with its signature Asian hospitality and a select number of guest rooms and dining options. Strategically situated in one of Phnom Penh's most vibrant neighbourhoods, Koh Pich, Shangri-La Phnom Penh is part of one of the tallest and most striking tri-tower architectural structures in the capital, soaring 228 metres into the sky. The development will be one of the key drivers of Phnom Penh’s tourism and business growth, enhancing the city’s appeal to both international visitors and local business professionals.

The hotel’s interior design aesthetics is a harmonious blend of Art Deco, Neo-Classical, and Khmer cultural elements, while remaining true to Shangri-La’s timeless style and Asian heritage. Guests residing in the 303 rooms and suites will enjoy unparalleled panoramic views of the confluence of the Mekong, Tonle Sap, and Tonle Bassac rivers. The room interiors feature warm wood accents, natural stones, and abundant natural daylight from the floor-to-ceiling windows breathe life into every corner, evoking a sense of serenity as guests unwind and recharge in their waterfront sanctuary.

Culinary experiences at Shangri-La Phnom Penh will highlight Cambodia’s rich local heritage, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Kommune Dining & Social Space will offer guests a chance to sample authentic Khmer flavours with classic dishes like Beef Lok Lak and Fish Amok, supporting the local agricultural economy while providing an immersive dining experience. The hotel also features a range of dining options contributing to the nation’s growing reputation as a culinary destination. These include the Shangri-La Group’s signature Chinese restaurant — Shang Palace, which will serve authentic Chinese cuisine including the signature Peking Duck, and the Altitude rooftop bar, a lively space offering stunning sunset views, cocktails, and light bites – both due to open in 2025.
