Tourism: Easing of entry requirements for daily tickets in Angkor Wat

At last Tuesday's Angkor Enterprise meeting, chaired by H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Minister of Economy and Finance, the reform of the Angkor Archeological Park ticket sales system resulted in several proposals to make it easier for tourists to visit the park.

Angkor Enterprise proposes to remove tourist information requirements such as photographs, nationality, age and gender for day tickets to Angkor, to be implemented from September 2024.

However, the photo requirement will remain for 3-day and 7-day tickets until the end of 2024. Angkor Enterprise is also looking to reduce the number of checkpoints at the four entrances, retaining only those at the entrance to the temples.

It will also develop several tools for ticket sales: a self-service machine, a mobile application and the promotion of electronic payment. A working group will study these proposals for reforming ticket sales at Angkor, with a view to full implementation from 1 January 2025.
