The Prime Minister hails the success of the 11th Kampot Sea Festival and advocates the spirit of “Tourism for all, together for Tourism”

Prime Minister Hun Manet congratulated the Ministry of Tourism, the Sea Festival Committee and the Kampot provincial administration for successfully organising the 11th Sea Festival, third edition, in Kampot. Samdech Thipadei emphasised the spirit of “Tourism for all, together for tourism”.

“I would like to congratulate and express my deep gratitude to the Ministry of Tourism, the Sea Festival Committee, the relevant ministries and the Kampot provincial administration for their remarkable efforts in organising this festival”, stressed the PM.

Samdech Thipadei also thanked the international participants, the embassies and the various countries represented by stands and shows, including traditional dances, underlining the spirit of international solidarity in tourism.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that tourism was fundamentally a means of connecting people. He emphasised its role in creating links between citizens of different provinces, as well as between Cambodians and foreign visitors. He pointed out that the promotion of culture, art and tourism was a crucial undertaking for Cambodia. This is why it is so important to organise a festival that attracts both national and international visitors.

The 11th Sea Festival 2024 in Kampot province, with the theme ‘Celebrating Heritage and Sustainability of Coastal Zones’, takes place from 13 to 15 December 2024. This event is intended to provide a significant boost to Cambodia's tourism sector in a number of ways:

Firstly, tourism promotion. Effective promotion is essential to attract visitors. The Sea Festival is a dynamic showcase for coastal and eco-tourism in Cambodia, delighting participants who, in turn, help to raise awareness of its potential.

Secondly, coastal conservation and development. The festival encourages collaboration in the preservation and development of coastal areas, in line with Royal Government policies. This includes improving general and tourism-specific infrastructure, which promotes local development.

Thirdly, improving the quality of services. The event aims to raise service standards in the tourism sector, thereby contributing to the growth of tourism in Cambodia.

Fourthly, the economic impact. The festival stimulates national and local economies by attracting tourists and creating income opportunities. It directly supports the tourism sector while indirectly benefiting local businesses, improving the livelihoods of communities.
