Thailand and Vietnam remain the main sources of foreign tourists

Thailand and Vietnam will remain Cambodia's main source countries for foreign tourists in 2024, contributing more than three million visitors, or over 50% of total international arrivals in the first 11 months of the year.

Data from the Ministry of Tourism reveals that the country welcomed six million foreign visitors between January and November 2024, an increase of 22% on the 4.92 million recorded during the same period in 2023.

Of these, Thai nationals accounted for 1.91 million, an increase of 15.4%, and a market share of 31.9%. Vietnamese nationals account for 1.2 million visitors, an increase of 30.8% and a market share of 20.1%.

Chinese tourists ranked third, with 769,775 arrivals (12.8%), followed by visitors from Laos (306,948, or 5.1%) and the United States (190,856, or 3.3%). The next largest markets were South Korea, Indonesia, France, the UK and Japan.

According to Angkor Enterprise, 898,339 international tourists purchased tickets to visit Angkor Archaeological Park between January and November 2024, generating $41.91 million in revenue, representing a 28.33% increase in ticket sales and a 28.76% increase in revenue compared with the same period in 2023.
