The resort also partnered with Schneider Electric to identify and track their carbon emissions to offer the best protection to the environment from their own activities in-house. To keep their Scope 3 emissions low they have partnered with the Green Farmers Association, a consortium of over 500 farming families within Siem Reap Province. This partnership, in collaboration with Agrisud, allows them to support local agriculture, sourcing fresh healthy produce, whilst also reducing air miles on international food imports.
With such famous and iconic temples such as Angkor Wat only 10 minutes away, it is important for the resort to embrace this rich cultural heritage into their operations and in how they conduct their business, building a strong preference promoting, supporting and partnering with local projects and businesses. Celebrating the history, culture and people of Cambodia, has always been one of the core founding pillars on which Sofitel Hotels and Resorts formed its identity. The resort collaborates with local artists whose work prominently features Cambodian-inspired styles and themes. By featuring a different artist within the hotel every 2-3 months on rotation, they ensure visitors have regular access to the rich heritage, history and culture of our local community.

One such example is The Satcha Project, the first Cambodian handicraft center incubating local artisans and introducing an innovative artistic approach, combining contemporary designs inspired by Khmer culture. Similarly, they promote Soieries du Mekong which produces traditional Cambodian scarfs all individually handmade by members of the local community using techniques and styles passed down from generation to generation.
