The Ministry of Tourism, in cooperation with the Indian Embassy in Cambodia, will be hosting the ‘Cambodia-India Tourism Forum 2024’ in Siem Reap province on 31 October.
Under the theme ‘Potential of the Indian Tourism Market for Cambodian Tourism: Opportunities and Preparation’, this upcoming forum aims to promote tourism and cultural exchanges, in particular to strengthen cooperation between Cambodia and India, boost the flow of tourists and attract more Indian investors to invest in Cambodian tourism, as well as contribute to the promotion of the ‘Cambodia-India Tourism Year 2024’ and the ‘Siem Reap Visit Year 2024’, the Ministry of Tourism said in a statement.
The forum will also provide ‘an opportunity for tourism experts, private sectors and stakeholders from both countries to build a network, exchange ideas and experiences, and seek common strategies to contribute to the development of sustainable and responsible tourism’.
Figures from the Ministry of Tourism show that Cambodia welcomed 20,560 Indian tourists in the first three months of 2024, an increase of 25% year-on-year.
Tourism remains one of the four pillars supporting Cambodia's economy, in addition to exports of garments, footwear and travel goods, agriculture and the construction and real estate sectors.
The Kingdom is well known for its world cultural heritage sites, namely Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap province, Preah Vihear temple and Koh Ker temple in Preah Vihear province, and Sambor Prei Kuk archaeological site in Kampong Thom province.
