An official of the Apsara National Authority has announced that the famous Angkor Botanical Garden will add another 150 hectares to its existing 15 hectares.
Hang Peou, director-general of the Apsara National Authority (ANA), said at a press conference last Thursday that the ANA was adding another 150 hectares to the existing 15 hectares of forest walkways and seating areas.
“We are expanding another 150 hectares to the north of the garden, which is a walkway into the forest, and we will also plant trees and have a place for visitors to rest,” Mr Peou said. He added:
“This is another tourism product that will have social and economic benefits. It will raise the awareness of the Cambodian people to know more about the plants, including some other tourism products in the Park, to increase the spirit of protecting and preserving the national heritage.”
The Angkor Botanical Garden is located on an area of more than 15 hectares under the support and initiative of Chea Sophara, former Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.
