Siem Reap celebrates National Culture Day with a focus on the role of youth

On 21 March, the Siem Reap provincial administration organised a lively celebration to mark the 27th National Culture Day in the garden opposite the royal residence.

The theme of this year's event, ‘Youth for National Culture’, was to encourage younger generations to promote the safeguarding of Cambodia's rich cultural heritage.

The celebration aimed to highlight the importance of Cambodia's ancestral heritage as a cornerstone of sustainable development. Officials stressed the importance of instilling patriotism, ethical values, social cohesion and civic responsibility, particularly among young Cambodians. Emphasis was placed on the crucial role played by these young people in preserving and promoting the nation's diverse cultural traditions and ancestral practices.

Mr Ly Sary, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province, addressed the participants, stressing the importance of National Culture Day in promoting a better understanding of the arts, cultural traditions and ancestral heritage that define Cambodian identity.

‘This day reminds us that it is our responsibility to cherish and protect the priceless legacy left by our ancestors for future generations,’ he said.

According to the Deputy Governor, the Royal Government of Cambodia's continued support for this annual event underlines its commitment to honouring the contributions of past generations to the preservation of the nation's cultural wealth.
