The Ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) won most of the seats of the Capital, Provincial, City, District and Khan council elections held on May 26, 2024, followed by Khmer Will Party (KWP) and the National Power Party (NPP), according to the National Election Committee (NEC).
There are total 1,652 communes and 209 cities, districts, and Khans and 559 seats for members of the capital and provincial councils and 3,641 seats for city, district, and khan councils for the election, while CPP won 504 seats in the Capital and Provincial Councils and 3,257 seats for city, district, and khan councils, followed by Khmer Will Party (KWP), and the National Power Party (NPP).
The CPP won all the seats for the Capital and Provincial councils in Mondulkiri, Pursat, Preah Sihanouk, Takeo, Pailin and Oddar Meanchey provinces.
According to the results released by NEC, KWP received 1,282 votes, equivalent to 47 councillors. The provinces where the KWP won the most seats were Prey Veng and Tboung Khmum while NPP received 276 votes, equal to eight members.
For the City, District and Khan council elections, CPP won 9,950 votes, equivalent to 3,257 councillors, of whom 661 are women, including 209 chairmen and 3,048 members. For KWP received 1,289 votes, equivalent to 312 members, of whom 34 are women, but did not get enough votes for the position of Chairman of the Council while NPP received 282 votes, equivalent to 69 councillors, including five women, but did not secure enough votes for position the council chairmanship.
The Royalist FUNCINPEC Party received only 18 votes, equivalent to two district councillors in Kampong Thom province followed by Khmer United National Party received 17 votes, equivalent to one councillor in Banteay Meanchey province.
The 4th Elections of Capital, Provincial, Municipal, District, and Khan Councils held at 209 polling stations across the country on May 26, 2024. This election was held by 11,598 or 99.79 percent of the total 11,622 eligible voters.
