Ream's Golden Silver Gulf International Tourism Resort - the spectacular 3,300-hectare complex set against the splendid backdrop of Cambodia's coastal beaches and lush wooded hills near Sihanoukville - aims to become the Kingdom's leading coastal destination.
Already boasting a 52-room main resort, an island and private beaches, as well as forest trails, the holiday resort is set to expand its facilities to include a five-star floating hotel and an 18-hole golf course.
Oanh Vanny, General Manager of Golden Silver Gulf, explains that what sets the resort apart from others in the Kingdom is its ability to cater for a wide range of tourists, from those looking for the very best to those on a budget.
"We have a number of luxury beach houses and affordable bungalows ( $25 and up) in our main 52-room resort, and we plan to increase that number to 60," she says.
"We have also purchased a 250-room cruise ship which we are restoring to turn it into a five-star hotel, while an exclusive new restaurant at the top of Prince Island will recreate the royal flavours of Sangkum's golden age (1960s) with authentic recipes created for King Norodom Sihanouk”.
"There are also plans to build a world-class 18-hole golf course. We are also in the process of developing 20 new bungalows near Koh Sampouch beach”.
Oanh Vanny confides that there are many elements that distinguish Golden Silver Gulf from an ordinary seaside resort, including numerous cultural and historical attractions, but :
"With such a huge site, we are able to offer many services aimed at multiple visitors, while the peace and tranquillity of the unspoilt forest that surrounds us and the magnificent sandy beaches are obviously among the finest attractions," she says.
"Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We've always had the utmost concern for the environment, for the forest - we never cut down large trees, only the smallest and youngest can be felled," she says.
A commitment to the local population
The resort - which has been in operation since 2015 - was created with the ambition of becoming a benchmark tourist destination for Cambodia."
"There are over 300 people legally allowed to live on Ream Park where we are located, so we are very committed to the local population - and traditionally, 80-90% of our visitors are Cambodian," says Oanh Vanny.
"We used to welcome a few hundred people every day, before the arrival of Covid. However, many foreigners have yet to discover the beauty of the coastline, and we are working hard to create infrastructures to better welcome them. We are about to open a Western-style bar, with Japanese and Western restaurants to come. We have recently hired two new Western chefs and we are currently training our catering service to ensure it meets international standards for both local and foreign tourists".
"The future of the Golden Silver Gulf resort is all about creating the best possible platform for our customers, but also for our local staff, so that they can flourish, be useful to the community and provide the best possible service," she concludes.
