The retail business arm of the oil giant PTT is pursuing an expansion of its international business operations, with a particular focus on Cambodia.
In a recent disclosure, PTT Oil and Retail Business Pcl (OR) CEO Disathat Panyarachun outlined the company's international business strategy and direction, emphasizing the importance of strengthening its operational capabilities. The company's objective is to diversify its business activities, for instance by selling LPG and asphalt, and to expand its international operations in collaboration with its partners, including K-NEX Corporation, the proprietor of the Otteri Wash & Dry convenience store brand, and Dusit Foods Limited. Furthermore, the company is seeking to identify and pursue opportunities to grow with partners in the region through various potential investments.
The objective is to achieve a more than doubling of the earnings before income tax, depreciation and amortisation of the global business group, reaching 15% of the total by 2027.
In Cambodia, a country where OR conducts international business, the company views the country as a second home, as there are still considerable growth opportunities. The Mobility business group, operated by OR, comprises 169 PTT Stations and seven product warehouses, in addition to the lubricant business, PTT Lubricants. Furthermore, they have invested in a joint venture with the objective of providing aviation fuel at a new international airport in Phnom Penh, scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2024. The Lifestyle business group encompasses 231 Café Amazon branches and 65 convenience stores. OR intends to invest in infrastructure to facilitate the expansion of businesses such as oil and LPG warehouses, asphalt mixing plants, and to explore opportunities in other energy-related businesses, including battery swapping and EV station Pluz.
According to the CEO, OR's commitment to expanding its business base is driven by a desire to achieve success and acceptance in the global market. To this end, the company adapts the success of its business in Thailand to different countries, applying its expertise and experience in order to achieve mutual growth with the community, society, and the economy in the region. Furthermore, OR prepares its personnel to extend this success to other countries, both at the regional and global levels.
