The official inauguration of the Morodok Techo bridge, located in the Kbal Thnal district of Phnom Penh, took place this morning under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Hun Manet.

Speaking on the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet praised this new achievement of the capital and said he was proud of the Cambodian people's growing capacity to build large-scale infrastructure projects.
According to the governor of the municipality of Phnom Penh, H.E. Khuong Sreng, the bridge is located at the intersection of Samdech Techo Hun Sen Boulevard (60-metre street), Preah Monivong Boulevard and Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Boulevard (271-metre street), in the districts of Khan Meanchey and Chamkar Mon.
‘Construction began on 31 August 2022 and was completed in just 30 months, six months ahead of schedule, at a total cost of nearly $36.8 million,’ the governor said.
The bridge should considerably ease traffic in the southern part of the capital, he added, emphasising that it was part of the broader urban development strategy of Phnom Penh aimed at strengthening connectivity between the city's economic corridor and the provinces along national roads 1 and 2.
Furthermore, he continued, the structure will improve links with major infrastructure projects such as the new international airport and the Funan Techo canal, making the capital more attractive to investors.
The existing road bridges in Phnom Penh already in service include the Kbal Thnal road bridge inaugurated on 24 June 2010; the 7 January road bridge, 6 January 2012; the Stung Meanchey road bridge, 31 July 2014; the 5 January road bridge, 5 January 2016; flyover of Stop Psar Dey Hoy, 2 July 2018; flyover of Chom Chao, 31 March 2022; flyover of Russey. 5 January 2016; flyover of the Psar Dey Hoy stop, 2 July 2018; flyover of Chom Chao, 31 March 2022; flyover of Russey Keo, 31 May 2023; and Morodok Techo, today.
