The Cambodian-Chinese navies hold a first-ever joint drill to exchange experiences at sea in Cambodia's Preah Sihanouk province.
According to the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) spokesperson Major General Thong Solimo, the 12-day military exercise commenced ten days ago.
Furthermore, the exercise aimed to foster cooperative operations, strengthen mutual trust, and promote relations between the two navies. The Golden Dragon Naval Exercise 2024, which involved a total of 782 Cambodian-Chinese naval personnel, 14 ships, and two helicopters, was designed to simulate hostage rescue operations from a hijacked cargo ship by terrorists.
The spokesperson noted that the exercise will contribute to the enhancement of naval maneuvering capacities for regional peacekeeping.
