NBC hosts inaugural meeting of interministerial working group on green finance

The inter-ministerial working group on green finance, led by the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), held its inaugural meeting on 8 January 2024 to consult with the relevant ministries.

Chaired by H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, the purpose of the meeting was to share updates on the Royal Government of Cambodia's strategies, action plans and initiatives, to gather further input on the development of Cambodia's sustainable finance roadmaps, Cambodia's green finance taxonomy and to define the roles and duties of the working group, as well as to discuss its priorities and future work plan.

The objective of the meeting was to prepare and draft policies, strategies, initiatives and mechanisms to support green financing and accelerate green investment activities in Cambodia.

This inter-ministerial mechanism also provided an opportunity for each member to share information and knowledge relating to climate change mitigation, which is a goal for the world as a whole as well as for the Royal Government of Cambodia with a view to sustainable development. NLC, relevant ministries and institutions, as well as banking and financial institutions in Cambodia wish to be actively involved in promoting green finance to support sustainable, low-carbon economic growth.
