Mondulkiri & Kofi: International success for the province's coffee farmers

Kofi Company has brought a new achievement to the coffee farmers of Mondulkiri province and to Cambodia as a whole. Mondulkiri Robusta beans processed by the company have recently been classified as Fine Robusta Coffee.

For the first time in history, the International Coffee Quality Institute (CQI), the world’s leading coffee quality assessment institute, has awarded the Cambodian coffee a Fine Robusta rating.

The World Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) is an influential body in the coffee industry that certifies coffee quality and hygiene standards. To be certified as a luxury Robusta coffee, CQI coffee experts have carefully evaluated several factors, including aroma, taste, acidity, crust and balance of the coffee. Through innovative production and processing, and adherence to quality and hygiene standards, Kofi has set a new standard for the Cambodian coffee industry and demonstrated its ability to produce and process Robusta Mondulkiri coffee for the world market.

This recognition is a testament to Kofi unwavering commitment to improving quality and its role in enhancing the reputation of Cambodia’s Mondulkiri coffee around the world and in line with international markets. The company Kofi’s leads the project "Sustainable Coffee Price Chain Development" with the trust and co-operation of the Mondulkiri Provincial Department of Agriculture.

Mam Makara, Coffee Production Manager, said:

"We are very proud to be the first Cambodian company to process fresh coffee into luxury Robusta coffee and to be certified by the CQI International Coffee Quality Assessment Institute. For us, this recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our farmers and our team. We believe that this achievement will open a historic page for Cambodian coffee in the world market."

Indeed, in the past, the company has worked with many farmers to collect fresh coffee beans at high market prices, distribute coffee beans and set up workshops to teach farmers how to grow and care for coffee. The company has also invested in the establishment of a model coffee farm and coffee plantation in Ou Raing District, Mondulkiri Province, and the establishment of Cambodia’s first international standard coffee processing plant in Busra commune, Pech Reada District, with the aim of promoting coffee cultivation and collection.
