On 11 July 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Khmer Enterprise, a Royal Government initiative to promote the development of a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cambodia.
The MoU aims to support and promote the development of modern agricultural cooperatives in Cambodia through the provision of technical assistance by Khmer Enterprise, coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Through this collaboration, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will provide technical assistance in areas such as farming practices, input supply, machinery and infrastructure. Meanwhile, Khmer Enterprise will focus on improving the business skills of agricultural cooperatives through capacity building initiatives.
S.E. Dith Tina said:
"The partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Khmer Enterprise will promote the development of modern agricultural cooperatives through improved entrepreneurship and management. This collaboration will also build confidence for further investment in the programme in the future."
Hem Vanndy stated that "this signing demonstrates the government's commitment to modernising Cambodia's agro-industry and developing business skills for agricultural cooperatives to be more efficient for the agro-industrial ecosystem".
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Khmer Enterprise will establish a technical working group to develop action plans, establish a joint evaluation mechanism, provide updates and advice to ensure effective project implementation.
