Le semi-marathon de Luang Prabang, « Run for Children » 2024, fête son 10e anniversaire

The event will welcome Cambodian runners representing their nation’s efforts to support improvements in the medical sector in the Southeast Asian region.

Pierre Boismard, Director of Development, Lao Friends Hospital for Children – says:

“Regional events like the ‘Run for Children’ demonstrate as to how cooperation amongst neighbouring nations can produce excellent results for charitable endeavours, that provide crucial support for the most disadvantaged people in Southeast Asia. Through on the ground fundraising, we are able to unite people from across the world to supporting the betterment of our region, whilst raising the profile of sports that help us all in living healthy lives.”

All proceeds and funds raised will go to Lao Friends Hospital for Children, the only free hospital in Northern Laos, which provides vital medical care to 40,000 children annually. At a time when international cooperation is increasingly vital in ASEAN, Run for Children demonstrates how collaboration amongst neighbouring nations can raise crucial funding over its decade-long existence.

A Cambodian Runner commented, “Being able to use sport to support worthwhile causes as a Cambodian makes me really happy, with Cambodia recently hosting the SEA Games, we have seen how sport can unite us into accomplishing brilliant achievements. It is crucial for us to all live healthy lives and through charitable sponsored runs, I am able to be able to improve my fitness, whilst contributing to the development of regional health centres.”

Featuring 7K, 14K, and 21K races, this year's marathon promises something for everyone, from seasoned runners to beginners. Participants will traverse Luang Prabang's scenic streets, contributing to a meaningful cause while enjoying the city's UNESCO World Heritage beauty.
