The latest exhibition, entitled "Staging," by renowned French artist Damien Dufresne, has opened Friday night at the Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra.
Damien Dufresne is a French photographer of international acclaim. The event, held in the refined lobby of the Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort, was a feast for the senses.
Those in attendance were offered a selection of refined beverages and gourmet canapés, expertly crafted by Chef Eric Berrigaud, the hotel's culinary director, and his team, in an elegant setting. As guests conversed and admired the artworks, Damien Dufresne himself took the stage to present his exhibition, offering insights into the inspirations behind his powerful and evocative photography. He also surprised guests by showcasing three models that are part of the photography.
The event was a fitting celebration of creativity, where the convergence of visual art, culinary excellence, and a refined ambience left a profound and enduring impression on all who attended.
The artist stated that his artworks are inspired by individuals he encounters during his travels, during meals, or in passing on the street. The essence of the models is captured through unposed moments, with complete freedom being afforded to them.
"I request that they be themselves, that they disregard the gaze of others, and that they relish the fleeting moment I am about to immortalize."
Damien Dufresne is renowned for his distinctive fusion of makeup artistry and compelling imagery. His previous roles as a hairdresser and makeup artist have informed and influenced his subsequent work as a photographer. Damien Dufresne has pursued a multifaceted career that has taken him to numerous global cities, including Paris, Seoul, Milan, New York, Tokyo, and Shanghai. He currently resides in Siem Reap.

The “Staging” exhibition by Damien Dufresne is currently on display at the Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort lobby until the end of October.
Subsequent to the artist exhibition, guests were afforded the opportunity to partake in an exclusive dining experience at the hotel's lauded French fine dining restaurant, Mouhot's Dream, at its distinctive Chef's Table. This intimate gathering afforded guests the singular opportunity to dine with the artist Damien Dufresne, fostering a distinctive connection and conviviality.
The evening was further elevated by a meticulously crafted five-course gastronomic dinner at the award-winning restaurant Mouhot's Dream.
