On Saturday January 4, 2025, the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra opened its doors to the second edition of the Ekarieach Multi-Arts competition. This eagerly-awaited event celebrates creativity and artistic expression, with numerous submissions from talented artists.
The competition aims to bring together local and international artistic communities, encouraging cultural exchange and showcasing diverse perspectives.
The 2025 edition received over 200 entries, of which 65 exceptional pieces were carefully reviewed and pre-selected by a hand-picked jury. These exhibited works provide a platform for local and international artists to share their interpretations of this year's theme, “Water”, highlighting its role in sustaining life, shaping cultures and solving environmental challenges such as scarcity and pollution (“L'Eau”/“Teuk”). This theme underlines the urgent need to preserve the precious gift of water, exploring its forms and meaning through a variety of artistic media.
At the opening of the exhibition, Charles-Henri Chevet, Regional Director of Sofitel Phokeethra, expressed his satisfaction:
“I'm very pleasantly surprised by the quality and the enormous amount of work represented by some of the works. It's also an exhibition that allows established artists to show their imagination, but also gives younger artists a showcase and an audience. A nice detail: the youngest artist is eight years old, while the oldest is 80...”
