The life and musical legacy of the late Srey Channthy, the beloved singer of the iconic band The Cambodian Space Project, is being celebrated in a special photographic exhibition, entitled ‘Channthy: Fever’, which runs from 20 March to 3 April 2025 at the S R A ‘A R T studio in Phnom Penh.

This exhibition marks the 7th anniversary of Channthy's dramatic death and offers an intimate and touching glimpse into her life, both on stage and in everyday life. Featuring a selection of never-before-seen photographs taken between 2014 and 2018, ‘Channthy: Fever’ showcases the vibrant spirit of the artist, capturing her in candid moments, performing with her band, and giving a glimpse of her immense contribution to the contemporary Cambodian music scene.

‘These are not photographs taken in a professional context, just moments in life captured with tenderness and talent, which makes them all the more moving,’ explains Cécile EAP, adding that all sales from the exhibition will be donated to Makara, the singer's son.

Srey Channthy's powerful voice and magnetic presence have made her one of the most celebrated figures in modern Cambodian music. As lead singer of the Cambodian Space Project, she has made a major contribution to reviving the sounds of the golden age of Cambodian rock and roll, while bringing her unique style and energy to the international stage.

The exhibition will not only pay tribute to Channthy's legacy through photography, but will also serve as an initiative to support his son, Makara. All sales will go directly to him to help with his personal development, including educational opportunities.

This initiative, made possible by the photographer - who survived the accident and has continued to support the singer's family - guarantees that 100% of the funds raised will benefit the young man's future, preserving Channthy's spirit of caring and love for her family.

In addition to the photographic exhibition, the event will feature performances by a number of talented musicians. Among them, Lewis McTie, Cove Aaronoff (with Japan Guitar Shop), Smack the Unicorn and many others will be performing acoustically.

This musical celebration of Channthy's life and work will add a lively note to the exhibition, perhaps allowing visitors to feel the same energy and passion that animated the late Channthy.
