Economy: Vietnam Airlines to start Hanoi-Phnom Penh route in late October

Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier, has formally announced the forthcoming inauguration of a direct route between Hanoi and Phnom Penh, scheduled to commence on 27 October 2024.

Vietnam Airlines to start Hanoi-Phnom Penh route in late October

The route, with a schedule of four flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, will provide an additional option for passengers in addition to the current four routes between Vietnam and Cambodia, which are HCMC-Phnom Penh; Hanoi; and HCMC-Siem Reap; and one trans-Indochina route.

The total number of flights between the two countries will consequently increase to 86 per week.

Vietnam Airlines is the sole Vietnamese carrier operating the direct Hanoi-Phnom Penh route. The introduction of this route will result in a reduction of travel time for passengers travelling from Hanoi to the capital of Cambodia to a mere two hours.

It is anticipated that the new route will serve to enhance the connection and trade network between the two countries, thereby creating a significant draw for tourists from Japan, South Korea and European countries who are interested in travelling to Vietnam and other destinations in the region.

In conjunction with this event, Vietnam Airlines is offering a promotional fare for round-trip tickets, priced from $262 for passengers who purchase their tickets between now and 30 September, with travel commencing on 27 October and concluding on 2 November.
