Economy & Tourism: Angkor reports 33 % rise in international tourist arrivals in 2024

A report released yesterday by Angkor Enterprise revealed that the number of international tourists visiting Angkor Archaeological Park had reached 584,375 in the first seven months of 2024.

This represents a 33% increase from the 439,365 tourists who visited the Park during the same period last year

According to the report, the park generated $27.17 million in revenue from ticket sales during the January-July period this year, representing a 33.8% increase from $20.3 million over the same period last year.

In July of this year, the site attracted 62,425 foreign holidaymakers, generating 2.82 million dollars in revenue, representing a 16% and 15% increase, respectively, compared to the same month last year, according to the report.

The top five source markets for the park were the United States, Britain, France, South Korea and China.

The 401-square-km Angkor Archaeological Park, situated in northwest Siem Reap province, is home to 91 ancient temples built between the ninth and 13th centuries. Inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1992, the park is still the most popular tourist destination in Cambodia.
