Last Thursday, a government delegation led by H.E. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, and H.E. Mr. Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation and Mr. Kao Tach, CEO of the Agriculture and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), visited Primalis Corporation Ltd., one of Cambodia's largest rice millers and exporters.
Primalis was established in 2013 by a Cambodian entrepreneurial family and is now a leading exporter of Cambodian rice to over 20 countries, including China, the Philippines, Indonesia, France, and Canada.
Situated in Kampong Speu province, the company was founded with an ambition to be one of the country’s leading exporters. It quickly achieved this aim, becoming one of the five largest rice exporters within just a few years of its launch.
During the visit, which took place on the first anniversary of the new Cambodian government, the delegation received a comprehensive tour of the facilities, which showcased the company's capabilities.
Primalis has the capacity to dry up to 1,200 tons of rice per day and to produce up to 1,500 tons of rice per day. The delegation also observed the latest German machinery from Buhler and automated robots in action, which showcased the technological advancements at Primalis.
The ministerial delegation proceeded to tour the modern facilities, situated on a 70-hectare plot along National Road 51 in Kampong Speu. The discussions between the government and Primalis have highlighted the importance of continuing to grow Cambodia's pure seed varieties of Pkha Rumduol and Seng Kro Ob, which have already gained popularity in overseas markets.
Primalis processes and exports a range of Cambodian rice varieties, with a particular focus on jasmine rice (Pkha Rumduol), fragrant rice (Sen Kro Ob and Sra Ngnear), and white rice. The rice miller is dedicated to continuing its contribution to the development of Cambodian rice on the international stage and to further collaboration with the public sector to establish the recognition of Cambodian rice as a high-quality brand globally in the years to come.
