La Villa De La Plantation, the perfect escape right in the heart of the stunning pepper fields of Kampot

An absolutely exceptional setting

Initially built for private use, the owners, Nathalie Chaboche and Guy Porré, finally decided to open the house to travellers eager to experience ‘another Kampot’ – and it’s a fantastic decision. The Villa is now available to rent and it’s a real treat. It has four spacious rooms with original designs, offering a unique experience full of charm, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Set amidst pepper fields, the Villa is an amazing and refreshing getaway, thanks in no small part to the splendid tropical gardens that surround it.

This incredible villa is a stunning blend of modernity and traditional Khmer architecture. Its totally original architecture is perfectly integrated into the surrounding landscape, evoking a feeling of ‘timelessness’ that will take your breath away! The rounded structures of the spacious rooms create an incredible atmosphere of calm and serenity, amplified by the breathtaking landscape of Phnom Voar hill.

French architect Yvon Chalm made the inspired decision to draw his inspiration from the deep countryside of the rice paddies criss-crossed by dirt tracks and dotted with the tree-lined hills of the beautiful Kampot region. This means that you can enjoy an environment that is both intimate and open to the Cambodian countryside as far as the eye can see.

And there’s more! The roof, created by Cambodian craftsmen using a mix of materials including concrete, metal, wood and stone, creates a very special atmosphere.

An invitation to an incredible, rejuvenating journey

A delightful escape, far from the noise and bustle of the city, the experience at Villa de la Plantation is one of peace, silence and sharing – it’s the perfect place to unwind and recharge.

Staying in these amazing spaces is like stepping into another world. You’ll feel like you’re in a whole other atmosphere, one of unique intimacy. A living space where you instantly feel at home, and where the surrounding environment and tropical vegetation beckon you to explore every aspect of this incredible villa. From the bay window of the bedroom, from the bottom of the stairs or from the top of the pool, every angle of view is an invitation to tranquillity – you’ll be blown away.

The perfect spot for sharing moments of conviviality is the communal area with a kitchen and lounge, where you’ll find a range of drinks and fruit, as well as the Plantation’s famous ice creamS.

Outside, you’ll find an incredible 20 × 8 metre infinity pool that offers an unparalleled swimming experience, with breathtaking views of the Kampot pepper fields stretching as far as the eye can see.

The incredible infinity pool at Villa de la Plantation in Kampot is a sight to behold. Thanks to the Villa’s westerly aspect, you’ll be treated to breathtaking sunsets over the lake and the Bokor mountain.

“The thing that amazed me most was the surrounding calm, which offered a stark contrast to the non-stop noise of engines and construction in Phnom Penh. I absolutely loved the huge infinity pool! Despite the mixed weather, I was thrilled to be able to do a few lengths when I woke up! It was an absolute delight! The pepper fields stretched as far as the eye could see, “ says Frenchwoman Julia, who had the pleasure of staying there.

“What I remember about this incredible getaway is the warm welcome from the amazing staff, the delicious, authentic Khmer dishes served in the restaurant (the lok lak with aubergines is an absolute delight) and the absolute calm that gives you a feeling of being out of time,” she added.

An absolutely amazing “à la carte” experience Made In Cambodia

The staff are so attentive and always on hand to help, which is such a comfort during your stay at the villa. Your chefs will take you on a gastronomic journey of delicious Khmer and European dishes, especially for breakfast. You can enjoy your meals in the communal kitchen or on the terrace with its absolutely breathtaking view over Secret Lake.

A visit to the plantation accompanied by a stay at the villa is an absolutely amazing experience during a stay in Kampot.

”I have to tell you about one incredible moment that will stay with me forever. I got to meet the private chef who came especially for dinner! As soon as I walked through the door, I was blown away by the incredible Cambodian flavours and the amazing Khmer music that accompanied the chef in her preparations,” says another Frenchwoman, Carla

She recalls:

“I will never forget the incredible traditional dinner I had at the Plantation! I got to savour the most delicious dishes with the most sumptuous sauces (the pineapple spicy sauce was my absolute favourite to accompany my fried rice with vegetables)! It was such an exceptional moment of sharing and I am so grateful for it!”.

“We have ideas for expansion, but for the moment the Villa remains a special place to live,” says Arnaud Vincent, Managing Director of the Plantation.

The Villa de la Plantation offers a truly unique escape from the world, where you can discover the daily life of the Cambodian countryside around Kampot and enjoy the beautiful sounds of soothing and rejuvenation.
