Minister of Environment H.E. Dr Eang Sophalleth and CEO of Cambodia Beverage Company Limited (Coca-Cola Cambodia) Mr Joseph Ho recently signed the agreement.

H.E. Dr Eang Sophalleth thanked Coca-Cola Cambodia for the support, which will help Cambodia take another step forward in achieving its carbon neutrality goal.

Mr Joseph Ho commended the Ministry of Environment for establishing the regional nursery and stressed that the company’s provision of the irrigation system was part of its commitment to protecting the planet.

The CEO expected that the irrigation system, which has the capacity to irrigate more than one million seedlings per year, will not only benefit the environment, but also encourage local communities and the country as a whole to participate in sustainable development.

This regional nursery is the first and is located in Preah Theat commune, O’ Raing Ov District, Thbong Khmum Province.

The establishment of this nursery is in line with the Ministry’s Environmental Chakra Strategy 2023–2028, which aims to improve Cambodia’s environmental protection, conservation and natural resource protection, and to help Cambodia achieve carbon neutrality and 60% forest cover by 2050.

Last year, the beverage company provided an irrigation system for the nursery at Cardamom Mountains National Park in Kampong Speu province.

In a similar initiative in early 2021, the company, in partnership with the Apsara National Authority, handed over a solar water well for irrigation of seedlings and greenery plantation in the Angkor area, specifically in Leang Dai village in Angkor Thom district, Siem Reap province.
