According to official figures released by the State Secretariat for Civil Aviation, Cambodia welcomed 1.96 million air travellers in the first quarter of 2025, a sharp increase of 19% compared to the same period last year.

This increase comes as the kingdom continues its post-pandemic tourism recovery, supported by expanded air links and the development of new airport infrastructure.
From January to March, international and domestic airlines operated 17,434 flights to Cambodia's three international airports, an increase of 19% compared to the previous year. The country's air cargo sector experienced parallel growth, with a 10% increase in volume, reaching 17,147 tonnes during the same period.
Officials attribute this increase in air traffic to the recent opening of Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) in November 2023 and the planned launch of Techo International Airport, which is scheduled to begin commercial operations in July 2025.
‘The two new international airports are capable of accommodating almost all types of aircraft from around the world, so I believe they will be able to attract more international airlines offering direct flights to Cambodia,’ said Sinn Chanserey Vutha, Secretary of State at the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation.
By 2025, Cambodia expects a total of 7.5 million air passengers, an increase of 20% from the 6.24 million recorded in 2024. The government remains optimistic that improved airport capacity and international connectivity will further boost tourism and economic growth throughout the year.
