Cambodia, Vietnam vow to boost mutually beneficial cooperation

Cambodia and Vietnam have pledged to further strengthen and expand their bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both peoples and countries.

Both leaders spoke highly of the bilateral relations between Cambodia and Vietnam over the past 57 years of diplomatic relations, and vowed to deepen them based on « the spirit of good neighbourliness and similar culture ».

Samdech Thipadei and H.E. To Lam also discussed strengthening diplomatic and political cooperation by increasing high-level exchanges of visits and communication; and trade, investment and energy cooperation by strengthening economic and trade partnerships to realise the full potential of two-way trade and further promote economic activities within the government and the private sector.

The meeting also touched on defence and security cooperation to maintain peace, stability and development along the common border and to prevent cross-border crimes such as human trafficking, drug trafficking and online fraud; and people-to-people exchanges and connectivity, focusing on the provision of scholarships and training, tourism promotion, the establishment of direct flights and infrastructure connectivity.

The two leaders identified land border demarcation as a priority and will continue their discussions with a view to completing land border demarcation.
