Solidarity, sharing and support... As usual, Ermine Norodom visits the families she supports every week with her Shanty Town Spirit Cambodia association in the Boeung Trabek district.
Analysing urgent needs in the field
During her visit to the communities last week, Ermine Norodom was accompanied by four volunteers to meet the families she supports. During each visit, the Princess is keen to analyse the urgent needs of each family. To do this, she is guided by Sokhon, affectionately known as "Chief-Chef", whose leadership role provides her with constant feedback on the different situations of the families and their most urgent needs.
On the day of the visit, Chan Nen, better known as "Lockmen", was treated by Ermine and her association to a beauty treatment by a local hairdresser and barber, as well as some fruit for himself and his family. Ermine's commitment not only helps to improve the health of the beneficiaries, but also supports their professional activities.
In addition, thanks to the cooperation with Pascale Tuseo Jeannot, Shanty Town Spirit's international representative for mobilising partners, she was able to send several boxes of clothes, shoes and games for the young people in the community. In the presence of Oum Sokhon, the clothes were distributed in a joyful and fair way.
Finally, Ermine was able to find a family in difficulty because of the rainy season, which causes flooding and jeopardises the solidity of their home. So she was able to talk to them about the different materials they already had in their possession, to see what she could ask her partners to do to repair the structure.
After the visit, getting to grips with what's next
On their return, the Shanty Town Spirit team were able to share their feelings following the visit, but above all to discuss the next steps to be taken to improve certain situations that had been raised during the day's visit.
