Cambodia has been recognised as the Asia's Leading Cultural Destination 2024 by the World Travel Awards. This is the third time in a row that the Kingdom earned this prestigious title.
Other nominees for the award included India, Japan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam, according to the World Travel Awards online source.
At the same time, the Kingdom was also named Asia’s Leading Youth Travel Destination 2024 for the third consecutive year by the World Travel Awards.
The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. Today, the World Travel Awards brand is recognised worldwide as the ultimate hallmark of excellence in the industry.
Four of Cambodia’s tourist destinations have recently been named among the top 25 tourist attractions in Asia in the latest Tripadvisor awards.
Siem Reap’s Angkor Wat was ranked second and the province’s Ta Prohm and Bayon temples were 19th and 20th respectively, while Phnom Penh’s Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum was ranked 22nd.
Last year, Cambodia received 5.45 million foreign visitors, generating gross revenues of US$3.08 billion, the Ministry of Tourism reported, adding that the number of international visitors to Cambodia is expected to reach 7 million by 2025, surpassing the pre-pandemic level of 6.6 million (2019).
