Cambodia: Minister of Commerce urges for food processing with quality standard

Minister of Commerce H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul has urged for the strengthening and promotion of food processing with quality control and standard to build consumers' trust and to expand international exports.

She made the call while presiding over the inauguration ceremony of the Food Processing and Innovation Centre and Quality Control Laboratory – Labiocert, invested by PPM (Pharma Product Manufacturing) and Confirel, on 25 February

The event was attended by government officials, including the ministry's Secretaries and Under-Secretaries of State, and representatives from various ministries, institutions, and the private sector.

H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul congratulated and expressed her profound appreciation for PPM and Confirel's remarkable progress and advancement, particularly in establishing the Food Processing and Development Centre and the Labiocert laboratory.

“These achievements are poised to make a significant impact on enhancing food processing and quality, as well as promoting the wider selection of high-quality Cambodian products in domestic and international markets,” she said

The minister emphasised the pivotal role of food quality certification in fostering consumer trust, underscoring the necessity for the development of premium foods to offer consumers a selection of new, high-quality, and flavourful products for both domestic consumption and international markets.She also shared insights to promote the processing and development of Cambodian food and products.
