An MoU has been signed by the Ministry of Environment, VERYWORDS, and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), paving the way for the introduction of high-quality electric scooters in Cambodia.

The agreement, which was signed in the presence of representatives from the Cambodian government and VERYWORDS, will see the South Korean company donate 8,000 e-scooters to the country. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Cambodia, with the MoU aiming to support the country's efforts in this regard.
According to the terms of the agreement, government officials will be permitted to utilise the e-scooters free of charge and without any restrictions, while VERYWORDS will be responsible for the establishment of over 200 charging stations for the users.
The Memorandum is intended to support Cambodia's ambitious targets in the field of transport electrification, with the country aiming to have 70% of two-wheel vehicles be electric by the 2023-2028 period.
The donation is expected to accelerate the growth of the e-mobility sector by replacing traditional motorcycles, which are known to pollute the atmosphere, with high-quality, environmentally-friendly electric scooters. The Global Green Growth Institute in Cambodia is proud to assist the Cambodian government in this innovative effort, following Article 6's strict environmental integrity standards.
The provision of e-scooters is anticipated to engender the creation of 150 new green jobs and a mean annual reduction of 5,040 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) in emissions. The Global Green Growth Institute has been providing the Cambodian government with technical assistance and the technical working group on climate change and the environment to assist it in meeting Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
