Cambodia & In Pictures: Pre-Gumball 3000 kicks off in Siem Reap

The Pre-Gumball 3000 Rally in Cambodia, organised by the Ministry of Tourism kicked off yesterday afternoon in Siem Reap province with a mini-concert at the Royal Independence Gardens, a drag race at the Old Siem Reap Airport and an exhibition of some 80 supercars and 100 motorcycles.

The event was organised in cooperation with Siem Reap Provincial Administration, APSARA National Authority, Chip Mong Group, relevant stakeholders and the private sector under the theme "Gumball 3000 Rally in Cambodia for Tourism",

Bringing GUMBALL 3000 to Cambodia has several main objectives:

To promote tourism in Cambodia and the country's reputation around the world.
To contribute to a major charity for the Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap province
To create opportunities between private, foreign and local investors

The Gumball 3000, a 3,000-mile, multi-country odyssey, will bring together a convoy of some 130 high-performance vehicles and a star-studded cast of celebrities, entrepreneurs and influencers. They will travel thousands of miles across several countries, with Cambodia being one of the stops.

The 25th anniversary rally, which begins in Vietnam on 14 September and ends in Singapore on 22 September 2024, will coincide with the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix, adding to the high-octane excitement in the region.

Equally important is the rally's charity component. Gumball is raising funds to build a floating football pitch in Kampong Khleang, the largest floating village in Siem Reap province.

The rally's participants, including Hollywood stars, artists and social media influencers, are expected to draw huge crowds, and to maximise public engagement, the event schedule includes a public meeting at the Independence Monument on 15 September 2024, followed by a business event at the Hyatt Regency Hotel the following day.
