The inaugural native chicken breeding programme in Cambodia and South-East Asia has yielded impressive results.
The programme, the first of its kind in the region, addresses the challenges faced by smallholder farmers in Cambodia by utilising native chicken breeds to develop a new generation of chickens with faster growth rates and enhanced health.
This progress is the result of two years of collaborative efforts between Cambodian and international researchers, and local farmers, supported by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), according to the Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh.
The project team expressed gratitude for the Minister's visit, support, and insightful guidance. They are optimistic about the project's potential and its success in improving local farmers' livelihoods.
