The election of Capital, Provincial, Municipal, District, and Khan Councils commenced on Sunday, 26 May 2024.
Cambodia held the election at 209 polling stations across the country. The polling stations opened at 7:00 and closed in the afternoon at 15:00.
A total of five political parties, including the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), the Khmer Will Party, the National Power Party, the FUNCINPEC Party, and the Khmer National United Party, participated in the political race.
A total of 11,622 registered voters, who are members of the commune and Sangkat councils, were expected to cast their votes during this proportional, non-universal election.
Voters are required to cast two votes: one for the municipal, district, and Khan councils, and another for the capital and provincial councils.
The election took place in 1,652 communes and 209 municipalities, districts, and khans, with 559 seats for members of the capital and provincial councils and 3,641 seats for municipal, district, and khan councils.
