Cambodia & Economy : +16% for Cambodia’s export of GTF goods in the first half of 2024

A report by the Ministry of Commerce revealed that Cambodia’s export of GTF goods in the first half of 2024 reached a value of 6.2 billion US dollars, representing an increase of 16.5 % compared to the same period in the previous year.

The value of garment exports during the January-June period of this year was US$4,569 million, representing an 18.4 percent increase from the US$3,858.5 million exported during the same period in 2023, according to the source.

The value of footwear exports reached US$774 million, representing a 10.4 % increase from the US$700.6 million recorded in the previous period. Meanwhile, travel goods exports amounted to US$903 million, an increase of 12.7 % from the US$801 million exported in the corresponding period.

The GFT industry represents the largest source of foreign exchange earnings for Cambodia. The sector encompasses approximately 1,538 factories and branches, employing approximately 913,000 workers, predominantly female, according to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training's latest report.
