The arts of Cambodia will once again be taking centre stage with the return of Phsar Art, the only art market dedicated to Cambodia, on 2 and 3 November 2024 at Phnom Penh's Ground Market. More than 60 artists, designers and students will be exhibiting their work, ranging from contemporary design to experimental pieces.
Organised by NOWHERE Art Studio, the two-day fair will bring together independent artists, designers and makers, offering a unique platform to showcase Cambodia's creative talent, according to the organisers.
This year's theme, ‘More than just a market’, reflects the event's aim to build a thriving independent creative community in Cambodia.
More than 60 artists, designers and students will be exhibiting their work, ranging from contemporary design to experimental pieces.
The market will run from 10am to 6pm over the two days, with free entry, and will feature live art demonstrations, workshops and performances, as well as vendor stalls offering unique works of art at affordable prices.
The event will also feature stencil and watercolour art classes, live portrait sessions, plastic recycling demonstrations and fashion workshops.
The organisers stress that this event ‘is not simply a market, but a space for connection and creative exchange between artists, collectors and the public. It seeks to inspire visitors and highlight the many artistic expressions of Cambodia's burgeoning art scene’.
Phsar Art was first held from 2017 to 2019 and returned in 2023 after a break due to the pandemic.
Founded by Malaysian and Korean artists Ajin and Lolli in 2014, NOWHERE Art Studio actively works to foster a creative community in Phnom Penh.
‘Its mission to support local artists and foster meaningful connections with international creatives has made Phsar Art a key cultural event,’ say the organisers.
