Cambodia: 44.31% of Mekong bridge construction project in Kratie completed

According to Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, the project to build a bridge over the Mekong River in Kratie province and the road linking it, totalling more than 33 kilometres, is 44.31% complete.

This 1,761 metre by 13.5 metre bridge, located in the Chet Borei and Prek Prasop districts of Kratié province, as well as the 31.69 kilometre link road and junction to the provincial town, are scheduled for completion by September 2026.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on 2 January 2023 under the chairmanship of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister of Cambodia, and H.E. Wang Wentian, former Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia.

Built at an estimated cost of more than $114 million and financed by a soft loan from China, the bridge will link Talus village in Bos Leav commune in Prek Prasop district.
